What are the stakes of German Film Studies today?

 

How does film contribute to the study and teaching of German culture at colleges and universities? To what extent is German film being researched outside the confines of German departments? Is German film present to audiences outside of academia? Are scholars of German film developing news ways of viewing and theorizing film? In what ways can German film studies benefit from and contribute to scholarship on film and media outside the German context?

These are some of the question that inspire our current forum. We welcome your thoughts and comments at german.quarterly@duke.edu.
